What is NeuroSport™?
NeuroSport™ was founded by Anne ‘Kip’ Watson, MA, LPC, CPT as a means of introducing proven scientific psychology (the MBTI™) to the fitness and athletic arena in an effort to help athletes reach optimal physical and mental potential.
Sport Performance Enhancement Assessment:
NeuroSport™ provides a systematic and scientific way of evaluating innate physical and mental wiring in order to reach optimal sport performance potential at the highest level. The assessment process pinpoints strengths, preferences, and weakness of an individual based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator™ (MBTI™), neuroscience, and a thorough written and interview consultation. No matter what your sport of choice or position within a sport, you can improve and reach peak potential by discovering your mental and physical predispositions through this scientific yet personal approach to athletics and fitness.
NeuroSport™ performance enhancement services provide specific results of physical & mental strengths and weakness given sport and position within a sport. We identify an ‘red flags’ that need to be addressed, and we make specific physical and mental training recommendations. We can work closely with trainers and coaches to maximize strengths and develop any physical & mental weakness using the arena of the physical training environment.
Clinical Counseling Services:
NeuroSport™ also provides clinical/therapy support in the following areas: eating disorders & addictions; obesity issues & weight control; depression & goal setting; career coaching & resume building.
What is the MBTI™?
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator™ is the most widely used psychological instrument in the world based on human behavior theory developed by C.G. Jung. The mother-daughter team of Katharine Briggs and Isabel Myers further developed behavior classifications designing the initial MBTI™ instrument. The instrument has been around for decades and is used by many Fortune 500 companies and the U.S. Government.
While someone’s ‘personality’ is a reflection of experiences, cultural upbringing, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social characteristics, there exists an innate systemic function of the brain. In essence, human behavior is not random but predictable and classifiable. These differences in behavior are the result of in-born preferences that emerge early in life.
With over 50 years of research and development, the current MBTI™ is the most reliable and valid method for determining preferences and understanding normal personality differences.
How can NeuroSport™ help me improve my game?
Properly administered, the NeuroSport™ assessment provides a clear road map as to how an athlete is physically and mentally wired. By pinpointing these innate preferences, strengths, and weakness, it is possible to know what sport(s) and even position(s) within a sport is a ‘best fit.’ We generate a detailed analysis with specific recommendations for setting goals, improving training, motivation, dealing with game-day stress or injury, even relating to coaches and teammates.
Bottom line, we provide precise information about investment. Whether you are the athlete, coach, parent, or even an agent, you need to know how to make a wise investment. As an athlete, invest in a sport you naturally excel at and find fun. As a coach, agent, scout, or recruiter, invest in an athlete who has the innate cerebral and physical predisposition to do what you are asking them to do and reach their optimal performance at the highest level.
Similarly, when the physical potential between athletes is essentially equal, what differentiates the best equates to the mental game. The best are able to execute under the most difficult circumstances. That ability comes from being mentally prepared and possessing mental toughness. The good news is every person’s mental game can be developed just like physical strength and agility.

How long does the NeuroSport™ sport performance enhancement assessment process take?
The full NeuroSport™ sport performance enhancement assessment is a 3-phase process. The initial interview takes approximately 1.5 hours. The second phase takes approximately 20-30 minutes for an on-line instrument and anywhere from 30 minutes to 1hour for an extended written inventory. The final results session, phase 3, takes about 2 hours in which clients engage in an interactive learning experience plus review their personalized results of strengths & weakness, ‘red flags’, and performance enhancement recommendations.
Coming soon: the basic NeuroSport™ sport performance enhancement assessment which remains a 3-phase process but it takes less time and is more narrow in scope.
Do I have to come to the NeuroSport™ office for my consultation?
No. Our main office is in Frisco, TX; however, NeuroSport™ works with elite athletes from all over the country. We conduct interviews and on-going mental training in-person, by phone, email, Skype™ or other video/webinar type conferencing methods. NeuroSport™ is available to travel to an athlete’s or an organization’s location for assessment and training services. Clinical counseling services typically take place at Frisco Counseling & Wellness.
How might my agent, coach and parents participate?
It is common for an athlete who pays for the assessment to choose to provide written permission allowing specific people access to a portion of information. When an athlete’s competitive or training status is dependent upon assessment, performance enhancement, or clinical treatment, those third-parties may have an active role in the process. Hence, the athlete will be required to sign a release of information document naming each third-party involved such as the team organization personnel, an agent, a parent, a trainer, and/or the like.
Additional NeuroSport™ assessments for those in support roles to the athlete (agent, trainer, coaches, parents, significant other or spouse) can be included as a part of the NeuroSport™ service package to the athlete (Please refer to the Services/Pricing page).
